The Short Story:
I left my job to travel for a year
The Longer Story:
I’m Amy Murch, a half-Japanese California gal who quit her job to travel around the world solo for a year.
I had traveled quite a bit prior to quitting my job, but it never felt like enough. As cheesy as it sounds, travel has always been a constant in my life. My first international flight was when I was less than 2 months old. I flew internationally every year to spend summer break in Japan with my mom’s side of the family.
In high school, I spent a summer abroad in Spain. In college, I studied and lived abroad in Costa Rica. Since graduating college, I have been fortunate enough to work for companies with a global presence. My first employer sent me all over the United States and to places like Dubai and London for business conferences and trade shows.
I most recently lived in San Francisco and worked for an amazing tech company in the Bay Area. The company provided me with invaluable work experience, incredibly bright and friendly coworkers, many of which have become my closest friends, and sweet perks like an unlimited PTO policy. I took advantage of the PTO policy and went on a handful of vacations but they always felt too short. I wanted to travel for an extended period of time.
And so here I am, exploring the world and seeing where life takes me.
